HIGHER EDUCATION IN EMERGENCIES

Are you:

  • A humanitarian practitioner interested in higher education in conflicts and crises?
  • A researcher focusing on international relations, international education or education technology?
  • A representative of an organization or ministry whose mission includes higher education? If so, consider participating in this highly collaborative course destined to foster partnerships and take your understanding of and impact on Higher Education in Emergencies to a new level.

The course will explore:

  • Post-secondary education in emergency and protracted settings
  • The role of universities as humanitarian actors
  • Policy and programming recommendations
  • Innovative solutions to concrete challenges
  • Connected learning pedagogies
  • The potential of Open Educational Resources
  • Quality guidelines for the design and delivery of higher education in emergencies programs
  • Real-world case studies through high-level seminars and the Capstone projectFaculty include field and academic experts from international programs such as:
    InZone, Professor Barbara Moser-Mercer (Course Director);UNHCR, Jacqueline Strecker (Co-Director); INEE – Interagency Network for Education in Emergencies; Kenyatta University; BHER – Borderless Higher Education for Refugees; Purdue University; Jesuit Worldwide Learning; Australian Catholic University; Kepler.org; Princeton; and MIT.

Tuition fees: 2’600 CHF
Final deadline: May 1, 2017.
